Especially this one. And we all love to hate it. But it’s unashamedly different, a design that doesn’t really make any practical sense. And that’s a thing we normally like here on Oppo.
I’d rather take this one, though.

I will admit, the CrossCab has really grown on me, almost to the point where I can say that I love it. It’s just so fucking weird and pointless, but you have to appreciate the fact that it exists.

I still don’t love it, but I can’t help but feel that that an enthusiast my age 20 years from now will love the weirdness, the same why that I love an AMC Pacer.

OK, but it’s no Isuzu Vehicross.

But that’s just it. Nothing is an Isuzu VehiCROSS, just like nothing else is a Murano CrossCab.

The world needs more quirky vehicles. It’s at the point where manufacturers only make what sells best and aren’t willing to take chances. Bring back the Cross-cab, the Subaru Baja, and all the other weird ones.

That Evoque is horrible in all forms, and give me a sledgehammer and 15 minutes on the other one.

No, just no. We love different that’s practical. We don’t love different that’s stupid. Taking a mediocre CUV that already lacks cargo room and wasting more of that precious cargo area on a soft top assembly, while making it weirder/uglier than it already was is not Oppo in any way.

Both are testament to the fact that car designers are rarely shot for their crimes.

I bet it’ll be about a month before we see a Donked Evoke Cabriolet

The way the hood shut line above the vent thingy on the Evoque doesn’t carry across to the door while the plastic bit does drives me nuts. I couldn’t live with it. Also based on Doug’s video of the one he rented with 11k miles, the build quality seems appalling.

I’d also take the evoque and holy crap what is that monstrosity in the first picture

Maybe not to you, but I feel like many others love less practical for the sake of weird.

The Baja has really grown on me. It’s become one of the few modern Subarus I would actually consider buying.

My beef with it is that it’s typically bought by the sorts of people who don’t give two shits about cars. That nullifies any quirkiness points it has going for it.

Twingo love isn’t impractical love.
Niva love isn’t impractical love.
Miata love isn’t impractical love.
This is impractical, ugly, and has zero redeeming qualities. I do think the high-riser is the most interesting and unique one I’ve seen, but it still doesn’t check any boxes that an Oppo would love it for.
Remember that we drive/build fun cars. This car can never really be fun.

I thought the idea was about having fun with cars, and it doesn’t matter what car that is?

Even at oppo it’s hard to like something that’s shit. If it didn’t make practical sense but had some redeeming feature, maybe
